Phase 3: Development of Pigmentation (4 to 6 months):
Welcome to the next level! As your baby’s skin grows beautifully, now it’s time to pay close attention to the development of pigmentation in their skin. Focus on sun protection as pigmentation begins to develop. Adjust skincare routines to accommodate potential changes in skin sensitivity to sunlight.
Skincare Guide:
- Bathing: As infants enter the pigmentation development stage, bathing routines can remain relatively consistent in terms of duration, but parents should continue to monitor the baby's skin for any changes or sensitivities.
- Sun Protection: Implement sun protection practices to prevent sunburn and minimize the risk of long-term sun damage. Seek shade whenever possible and use protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses for infants when outdoors. Monitor the skin for any changes in pigmentation, particularly in response to sun exposure. Consult a pediatrician if you notice any unusual or concerning changes in the skin.
- Moisturization: Continue to moisturize the skin daily, especially after baths and as needed to areas prone to dryness.
- Diaper Care: Continue to change diapers promptly and use a diaper cream. Keep the diaper area clean and dry to prevent skin irritation.
